Meiji shrine

Meiji shrine is located close to Shibuya, in Yoyogi Park (Harajuku station)
Torii, a traditional Japanese gate leading to Shinto shrines
It can hardly be called spectacular, but the surroundings are serenely quiet, a tranquil refuge from sometimes unduly busy bustle of the city life.

It is one of the more important and renown places of prayer in Tokyo, and as such it gets fairly crowded.

The grounds include a generous park with wide, tree-lined boulevards.

Harajuku is a famous shopping district (clothing, etc...) and there are quite a few crêpe shops around.

The shape of the torii gate is just like the kanji sign for yen (¥) - 円. It also means circle or round.
